A medical herbalist uses herbal medicine to bring about healing in a natural and yet powerful way. Leaves, flowers, roots, bark and stems of plants all have various chemical constituents which have been found to have medicinal value in the body.
These plants when taken as a tincture, or as teas, decoctions, or tablets can greatly assist the body to heal by allowing changes to take place on a cellular level. This allows for optimum functioning of the bodies systems: immune, digestion, liver, respiratory, reproductive and circulatory. Herbs assist the body to heal disease by addressing the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms.
NutritionistUses diet and/or nutritional supplements to bring about healing. Food is a very powerful tool to enhance health and many foods have healing qualities in their own right. A nutritionist investigates a person’s diet /lifestyle and symptoms and then discusses and plans changes to allow each individual to receive the best from their diet.
A treatment structure will involve diet changes/advice, examples of recipes to suit individual needs, and if necessary temporary supplementation of nutrients. Emphasis is placed on education, and helping the client understand how to get the best value from what they put into their bodies.
